This unit is designed to appeal to all who are interested in basic questions about life and society, and to increase their ability to follow, develop and convey reasoned arguments.  Typical questions are: What is the mind?  Is there a God? Do we have free will?  Are moral and aesthetic judgments merely subjective?  Do animals have rights?  What is the ultimate nature of reality?  Do our lives have meaning?  These and similar issues will be discussed in the tutorials.
 

Lectures/Tutorials

2.5 hours per week.

Prerequisites

Nil.

Assessment

Internal mode: Tutorial participation and presentation, test, essay.
