This unit introduces students to the elements of ethics, ethical reasoning and practical decision-making in relation to contemporary concerns about public, professional and personal ethical responsibility in the workplace, community and global contexts.  The unit focuses on the development of practical skills in ethical sensitivity, discrimination and judgement in a world where ethical values are contested and changing.  Topics include: truth-telling and integrity, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, racial inequality, corporate social responsibility, business ethics, cyberethics and global justice.

 

Lectures/Tutorials

2.5 hours per week 

Prerequisites

Nil. This unit is intended to be accessible to students from all disciplines

Assessment

Internal mode: Tutorial participation and presentation, essays.
