In our modern world questions of meaning and how we fit into the world often seem empty and outdated. Science and technology provide the dominant framework for thinking about who we are and what matters in life. Material possessions seem to be the only measure of life's success. This unit revives age-old questions: Is it possible to speak of the meaning of life? Is the ancient concern with the soul meaningful to us? How can we think about death? What is the connection between responsibility and a meaningful life?
